Our church is decorated for this time of Lent with the hardy plants and bushes that grow in the desert.

Lent is a desert time for us.  It is where we learn to trust God more, to do battle with our passions and appetites.  It is a time to trust in God, who does not abandon us in the desert, but is very close to us.

"When John the Baptizer made his appearance as a preacher in the desert of Judea, this was his theme 'Reform your lives! The reign of God is at hand. It was of him that the prophet Isaiah had spoken when they said, " A herald's voice in the desert,: Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths'."
Matthew 3:1-4

"At that time the Spirit sent him out towards the desert.  He stayed in the wasteland for forty days put to the test there by Satan.  He was with the wild beasts and angels waited on him."
Mark 1:12

" The desert is an ocean with its life underground and the perfect disguise above."
(Song:   A Horse with No Name by America)

The desert is an arid, empty space.  It is dangerous.  It is the place where Jesus goes to sink his roots more deeply into the oceans of life deep within Him.  Lent is a time to sink our roots more deeply into the heart of God, and find within, greater life.

The desert was for the People of Israel, the place where God led them from slavery.  It was the place of God's tender love. There in the desert, God gave His Chosen People  the gift of the Commandments, the daily bread of manna and the water flowing from the rock  It was the place of his powerful and real presence to the people with the Pillar of Fire by night and the Cloud by day.

Welcome to our website! Please feel free to navigate throughout. Our goal is to provide another level of information and communication with our Parish community. We would appreciate your signing our guestbook

Being near so many resort and vacation areas, many visitors are here for only short periods of time. We encourage all our visitors to attend our Parish as often as
possible. However, should your travels make attending our mass inconvenient, please take the time to locate and attend a mass at one of the other
Parishes in nearby communities

We appreciate your comments and opinions regarding our site.

Mission Statement:
We, the Body of Christ, members of Our Lady of Lourdes, come together in prayer to evangelize by word and deed, and to lead others to GOD through our example, and to answer the needs of the people by charitable works. We are dedicated to the sanctity of life, promoting social justice, and are ready to defend the faith.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, we are called to herald the good news as Jesus bid us according to the will of GOD. We must be mindful that we are ambassadors of our faith to the community at large. Following the example of Jesus, we are to be servants to the Lord in the tradition handed down to us by the first disciples.
