R. C. I. A. RCIA is an acronym for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. It's a year long process for those interested in full incorporation in to the Catholic Church. Some have never been Baptized. Some have been searching for a spiritual home, and their search has brought them to us. Others were Baptized, but feel the hunger to receive the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. Each candidate is accompanied by a sponsor during the period of preparation. Ordinarily, the process begins in early September. It involves regular meetings of the candidates, sponsors and a priest, along with other members of the Parish RCIA team, who accompany them on their journey of faith.
